Wendelin Sachtler's Academy left its home ground in Eching to go on tour again – this time to the Dortmund University of Applied Sciences. Cameraman Kay M. Kramme brought his artemis equipment for the film and television students to check out. The students in the camera course showed great interest in the seminar well in advance and the 15 allocated places were not nearly enough.

“Our students found a workshop on the subject of Steadicam something totally different and very interesting. So we gladly turned a blind eye and admitted more participants”, said Professor Klaus Helle of the Dortmund University of Applied Sciences. The seminar was charged with excitement. Kay M. Kramme demonstrated the stabilising system to the newcomers with verve, while the students hung on his words to miss nothing. Everyone wanted to try out the system live, to get a feeling of how enormously mobile camerawork can be.

Pure motivation

The students were highly motivated and concentrated. An opportunity to learn from an experienced cameraman comes rarely at university and the joint project between the university and the Academy was a lucky break for the students. At the end of the seminar, Professor Helle was highly satisfied and stated: “Although it was shortly before the end of the semester, all the students were highly motivated right up to the finish. We will definitely try to work with the Wendelin Sachtler Academy again in future.”
