Home-made vests and lots of enthusiasm
Timur Musaev is neither operator nor cameraman - but he sells the equipment that helps those who work behind the camera to capture their ideas on film. In cooperation with Sachtler the DNK-dealer organised a camera stabilising workshop in Moscow. Intrigued by the atmosphere at the workshop Timur Musaev later related his experiences.
"In 2007, along with Sachtler , we held the first artemis workshop in Moscow. Amazingly enough, it was just the third camera stabilizing system workshop in our huge country for the entire history of Russian cinema production. We collected a group of camera stabilizing operators, not only from numerous regions of the Russian Federation, but also from Turkey and Lithuania. To tell you the truth, I always lack communication with end-users, who actually handle this equipment, and know the adjustment details. It is for them that this equipment is an instrument of expressing thoughts, creating pictures.
Luckily, at the workshop I had an opportunity to watch camera stabilizing operating at different qualification levels. There were both seasoned professionals and the guys who put the vest on for the first time. And all of them had there own ideas, opinions and techniques. One of the operators even brought to his own self-made vest to the workshop!
This event has brought us new knowledge and acquaintances, new ideas and plans. And every participant decided to take part in the next, more advanced workshop."
»Dear Sachtler, You are always welcome here in Russia - with workshops for advanced camera stabilizing systems as well as for lighting!« | Timur Musaev, DNK, Moscow, Russia |
